The airport has its own İZBAN suburban-rail station.
From International Arrivals, follow the Subway-İZBAN signs and take the travelator towards the station.

İZBAN serves central areas including Alsancak and connects with İzmir's wider Metro network.
The rail journey from the airport to Alsancak is roughly 27 minutes.
Travelling south?
The İZBAN network extends all the way from Aliağa to Selçuk, making the airport unusually useful for travellers heading towards Selçuk and the Ephesus area.

The current airport Havaş timetable includes services for:

That means Havaş is particularly useful here because some visitors can travel towards their holiday destination without first going into central İzmir.
